"I'm so sure I put it over there. There is nowhere else it could possibly be. I always put it there." You looked in the closet as if the brush could possibly have sprouted legs and taken off. With a loud sigh, you finger comb the waves in your braids, throw it in a messy bun and leave the house. The night before, right after you had brush your hair and put it in a bonnet, you went to sleep. As soon as you drift into silent oblivion, she rouses. Gliding over to the vanity, she takes off the bonnet, picks up the brush and glides it through the previously stowed curls and leaves the house. She makes sure to leave everything in place so as to remain inconspicuous and she goes wild. Clubs, parties, concerts, things you'd only dream of for good reason. Street racing, dying her hair a dark red, train surfing and every other mischief she could achieve in a night before you wake up. Six hours later, she sneaks back in; completely sated and lays in your bed. You wake up exhausted despite sleeping eight hours. Weird dreams of strobe lights and sparks accompanied by a racing heart. In a second, the memories of these dreams are gone. You suddenly realize that your brush isn't on the table where you place it every night. Finally, you find it in a dresser on the other side of the room with a strand of dark red hair in it. "Weird." You conclude and continue with your day. As you look forward to the next time you can sleep for eight hours, your shadow looks forward to her next adventure.
